Birthdays & Fall Festival

HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY
to my mom and brother, Kevin.

Sunday our church had their annual fall festival.
Even though it was a little chilly out, I took the boys.

Konner had a blast on the blow ups and we spent most of our time on two that were next to each other.

I love this picture and how Rivers is watching his big brother. Can you tell he is squatted down a little bit too?

Rivers played some too....

but mainly sat in his stroller and ate two bags of popcorn.

This picture is from Saturday when they were playing outside in the cold weather.

Doc & Weekend

I have so much I wanna blog about. Like the vacation we took in May of this year.
One day... one day.

But today, I will quickly write about Rivers being sick and our weekend.

The crud is going around. Coughing, sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes.
And my baby gets it. I tried to hold off but after a week of him being sick I took him to the doc.

He weighs 23 pounds and 4 oz and he is 32.5 inches long.

My baby is 22 months. Ummm.. that's 2 months away from being 2.

These boys would not sit still while waiting.

Did y'all forget what I looked like? HA!!

Friday night we made a fire in our new fire pit. The boys loved it.
The weather was great and it was so relaxing, other than the fact Rivers liked to walk right up to it. I'm pretty sure he was doing it on purpose. He is our dangerous child. OH MY!!

Sunday we stayed outside ALL day long. I worked on my craft fair stuff...

while Dan and the boys rounded up limbs for our fire pit.

Look at these sweet things?!?!!!

Oh LOOK!!! There I am again!

"Risky Rivers" moved this wood all by himself and was walking up and down it. He fell a couple of times just to get back up and do it again.

Whoever workd his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sence.

Homecoming

Some day I am good about blogging on time... others, not so much.

Last week was homecoming week.
Thursday I took the boys to the parade.

waiting...

and waiting.... Olivia's face is priceless

and must a little more waiting.

The ''triplets"

Rivers saw the Firedog.

"Throw me something, Mister!!"

Swamp Ox

Last week my Dad and his work crew have been working by our house.
After I got Konner off the bus Thursday, we walked to see him.

He was on this big swamp ox. Konner wanted to ride.

Pop even let him drive a little ways. The tires were taller than me.

Friday, they were back and dad brought the ''big'' truck to carry the swamp ox back to the office.

My boys had the best time playing on it.

Konner was helping Rivers down.

What big brother does, little brother does.

Of course they had to get some trucks and push all around and even over the side.

Here comes Pop to say hello.

I told my dad he needed to bring the big truck more often because the boys would play on it all day long.

Spirit Week

The lower elementary does spirit week a little different. Instead of doing days like mismatch day, pajama day, camo day, they dress up from 1990-1950.

He loved his 1980's shirt!! The monkey with the 3d glasses and guitar.
By 1970 day, he was not too thrilled with taking pictures

As you can see, we did not worry with the pants any day. I was over it from the beginning.

Friday, the high school band played for them.

They had classic cars.

And they played games and even got to watch a movie.

I checked him out early and we came home and relaxed the rest of the day.

Better than a Hallelujah

I don't know why I think I have to keep my composure all the time.
You know, keep your emotions in check.
Hold my tears in.... even if I'm alone.
And if I do cry in public, I try to "dry it up" as quickly as the tears start.

Today, I was driving down the road and BAM tears were coming.
And just as quickly as they came, I "dried it up."

But God knew I needed a good ole' cry.
A good ole' ugly cry.
Because as soon as I stopped, Amy Grants's song Better than a Hallelujah, came on.
Oh man, I lost it.

"We pour out our miseries. God just hears a melody."

"Beautiful, the mess we are."

"The honest cries of breaking hearts."

Sometimes, we do have misery.
Sometimes, we are a hot mess.
Sometimes, our hearts are broken.

And that's okay. Cry out to God. Let Him carry you through your brokeness, your misery, and your messiness. He can handle whatever you bring to Him.
(speaking to myself here as well)

Thank you Lord, for accepting me, even in my brokeness.
Thank you for Your mercy.
Thank you for Your grace.
Thank you for Your faithfulness.
Thank you for being my strength when I am weak.
Thank you for carrying me when I just can't seem to take another step.

My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise.
Psalm 51:17

Park Play

This morning we had a playdate at the park.
The weather was gorgeous.

He was scared of the bridge at first.

But with Mommy's help a few times, he was doing it all by himself.

"WEEEEEE!!!" he would say, as he slid down the slide.

Our buddy Christian came to play too.

He was climbing up and slipped and slid down.

All that playing makes for one thirsty baby!!

“To fear anyone will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.”
Proverbs 29:25

Motivation Monday

If you scroll down a few posts, you will see Rivers say the blessing at dinner. The first time he actually said it was Adyson's 3rd birthday. Well, today I put him in his chair for lunch and he immediately puts his hands up to his face and starts praying for his food.
OH. MY. HEART.
I said the blessing with him and he then eats.
My eyes filled with tears at the site of my 20 month old knowing that when we sit to eat, you are suppose to bless the food.
Tears still come to my eyes just thinking about it.

This motivates me to keep pressing on toward the Lord God Almighty.
He and Konner see and are watching every move and word I say.
Yours are too!!

I must be doing something right!!

Don't ever think your kids are not watching what you do and what you say. They never miss a thing.
